With Captain Amarinder Singh taking oath as Chief Minister of Punjab today, the new government has transferred a number of IAS and IPS officers.
Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, an IPS officer of Punjab cadre of 1998 batch, is the new Commissioner of Police, who replaces Jatinder Singh Aulakh.
The 2006 batch IAS officer, Pradeep Aggarwal, is the new Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana. He replaces Ravi Bhagat.
A man of simple living and high thinking, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh believes in learning, performing and reforming. He has excelled in various fields of policing since he joined the IPS. He has handled many sensitive investigations and law and order issues during his service at various positions. His core areas of work are city policing, crime detection, preventive and pro-active policing as well as community-oriented policing (COP).
Pradeep Aggarwal did his mechanical engineering degree from the IIT, Kanpur, in 2001. He has worked at Infosys. Aggarwal is not new to the city as he had served here as ADC-D. He had also been posted as Municipal Commissioner, Ludhiana, but was transferred as he refused to be buckled under political pressure.
Aggarwal has also served at Ropar, Balachaur, Fazilka and Sangrur. He has been DC, Ropar, and the Election Commission had appointed him as DC, Gurdaspur.
Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh started his career as ASP from the holy city of Amritsar in 1999 (December) and has the distinction of serving in every capacity, such as SP City, SSP and DIG. He is at present Inspector General of Police, STF (Punjab), dealing with hardcore gangsters. Before this, he was posted as DIG, Border Range (Amritsar), Police Commissioner of Jalandhar City, DIG of Ludhiana Range and Jalandhar Range.
He has headed Amritsar, Gurdsapur, Batala and Ferozepur districts as Senior Superintendent of Police. Besides, he has served as SP City (Amritsar) and SP City (Mohali).
