No documents required for new power connections

Punjab State Power Corporations Limited (PSPCL) has eased the conditions for release of new power connections to domestic consumers to make the entire process hassle-free and customer-friendly. Henceforth, applications for the release of new power connections in the domestic category would be accepted without any supporting documents.
The PSPCL Chief Engineer, Central Zone, NK Sharma, said for grant of new power connections with a connected load of up to 20 KW under residential category, applicants would not have to provide any documents such as a copy of title deed, rent deed, test report or an NOC. Applications could be submitted at the PSPCL office concerned with just a copy of the identity proof of the applicant.
He said applicants for new domestic connections would have to fill in an application form which is available at the PSPCL offices and applications would be accepted for processing without any other supporting document or affidavit. “No fee will be required to be paid with the application and on issue of demand note, applicants will have to deposit only the stipulated departmental charges, including security,” he said.
Sharma said under a time-bound procedure, applications would be processed without any delay and connections released within seven days. He said in case of any difficulty, applicants could seek assistance from helpline number (98146-49459).
He said an opportunity was being provided to unlawful occupants of government land or residents of illegal colonies to get new power connections on the payment of stipulated charges. The scheme would remain in force till April 4, 2016, he added.
