Gurjot Kaur, a first year B-Tech student, and Manmeet Singh of BBA-III were adjudged best athletes among girls and boys, respectively, during the 16th annual athletics meet of the PCTE Group of Institutes that concluded on Saturday.
Students of BBA-II secured maximum points and bagged the overall trophy.
Dr KNS Kang, Director General of the institutes, congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of athletes.
“Events like these help students to develop their overall personality and motivate more students to participate on a regular basis to have a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
Proposing the vote of thanks, Amitej Singh, head of the physical education department, said games help students learn values of life, which get imbibed in their thinking, thus guiding them success in all walks of life.
Results
Women:
- 100-m race: 1st Glorious, 2nd Kamara Sewa and 3rd Agnes
- Shot put: 1st Simranjeet Kaur, 2nd Shimani and 3rd Choki
- Long jump: 1st Gurjot Kaur, 2nd Passang and 3rd Tatenta Chic
- Tug-of-war: 1st MLS-II and III and 2nd B Pharmacy-II
Men:
- 100-m race: 1st Manmeet Singh, 2nd Supreet Singh and 3rd Raghav
- Long jump: 1st Manmeet Singh, 2nd Jatin and 3rd Puneet Pal Singh
- High jump: 1st Jagjit Singh, 2nd Jatin and 3rd Raphel and Amit
- Triple jump: 1st Manmeet Singh, 2nd Jatin, 3rd Jagjit Singh
- 4 x 400-metre relay race: 1st BBA-II, 2nd BCA-II and 3rd BCom-II
