If there is one person that we need to thank today (those who see themselves as an exception are not ruled out) is Sir Winston Churchill. Now, don’t start looking for his number on Google, just to know why you should thank him? Sir Churchill is the person who said so much in favour of ‘fools’ like- ‘The greatest lesson in life is to know that even fools are right sometimes.’ Ah! There we all smile, at least something said in our favour! Those who haven’t reached where we have, don’t get all-worked up, we are only looking at the prospects of the harmless word ‘fool’. Well, if you used it as a noun, then this fool is actually a person who behaves in a silly way without thinking. Something we do most of the time, and if you do so...then welcome to the Fool’s Paradise! We don’t guarantee any meetings here with long-lost-friends or chance encounters with new ones, but we can say for sure, you will certainly have company!

Paradise gained

At the same time, if you are beginning to wonder or establish any relation of fool’s paradise with fool or maybe April Fool’s Day, we quickly want to get this clear by defining what is a Fool’s Paradise. (Please don’t look up), it is just a state of happiness based on a person’s not knowing about or denying the existence of potential trouble. A place you often find yourself in, along with someone or not...But what if there was really a place called Fool’s Paradise, and the only criteria for entry into this place was to be a certified fool, then whom would you take along for company! Some comedians share

Today, if you are feeling an affinity with the day, then how about treating yourself with something interesting, like a spaghetti and meat ball cup-cake or mashed potato mixed with ice-cream cone? Don’t be startled, these are a few hot-selling items of the day and you can get it anywhere in tricity.

“I am sure someone would be giving a discount on it as well. The Fool’s Day menu is always very interesting,” Balraj Randhawa, state-level hockey player from Dhuri smiles. Look out for ads in the newspaper or radio for the special fool’s menu!

Jokes apart

There are some celebrities who have become so popular because of their extravagant style and extravagant humility that every year on this day, hundreds of fans salute their ‘being themselves.’

Down South superstar Rajinikanth and our Bollywood’s official, tailor-made babuji Alok Nath are two such celebrities who get 21 topon ki salaami each year on April 1. Are we kidding? Then hop on the Twitter or open your Facebook account and see more than 20 thousand jokes on Rajinikant, growing with each passing day. We can’t let you go without hearing this one—‘There is no April 1st in Rajini’s calendar, because no one can fool him.’

Dilshaad, winner of comedy show Hasde Hasde, would actually want to pay due respect to Rajinikant for taking jokes in his stride. “I know of someone working on Rajinikant’s biography called The First Super Power. What, you don’t believe me?”

Come one, come all

We hope you haven’t take an off from work today, claiming your legal right to celebrate the day! And if you have time on you wouldn’t you want to know where the day came from...

  • April Fools’ Day is celebrated all around the world as a day filled with practical jokes and general silliness. You may want to be a little more cautious or sceptical on April 1, since family members, friends, neighbours, co-workers and even teachers may try to tickle your funny bone with a practical joke of some kind.
  • Some people believe that April Fools’ Day was the result of a desire to celebrate the turning of the seasons around spring time. In fact, many cultures have historically held such celebrations around the beginning of April. Still others believe April Fools’ Day got its start because of the adoption of a new calendar in 1582. Many ancient cultures celebrated New Year’s Day around April 1.
  • Some historians believe that April Fool’s Day has its origin in ancient Rome, with a festival known as Hilaria. Usually celebrated on March 25, according to William Smith’s Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities, Hilaria was a day for games, masquerades, and generally with relentless.
