After last year’s successful art exhibition of the works by the children of HamariKaksha, where each one of the 65 works displayed got sold out, the NGO is back within a year with more.
HamariKaksha has positioned itself as a major player in the field of art products in the past year, channeling the talent of the children into creating calendars and cards for corporates and exhibiting paintings at various exhibitions. The work is breathtaking in its freshness. The colours leap out at you, chuckling and reveling in life. Being jubilant!
The second edition of the art exhibition displays the works of art by the students of Hamari Kaksha- A Class Apart, a city based NGO that works with underprivileged children. The NGO works to educate children from poorer backgrounds and keep them interested in study and academics, using several formal and non-formal techniques, an important one of which is art.
“Art is an enjoyable and fulfilling means of self-expression for the children” Says Dr Anuradha Sharma, the director of HamariKaksha. There is pleasure in colour and creation, and the rewards are immediate.
“Through art, the children express themselves and learn a broad range of skills and concepts” says Neha Sharma, a volunteer who has conducted art workshops with the children. “The children have produced a series of works, working in groups as well as individually. Thus they have completed works through teamwork, cooperation and the exchange of ideas.”
There’s a wide range of art styles on display. The reason being that several workshops were held for the children by people as dissimilar as the artworks they have generated! — TNS
