Teshan — this is what we have as this week’s Punjabi film release. For those of you who are trying to figure out the meaning of the word Teshan, well, in chaste Punjabi, station (as in railway station) is generally pronounced as Teshan!

Teshan, directed by Sukhbir Singh, starring Happy Raikoti, Yograj Singh, Diljott, Anita Devgan, Prince KJ, Karamjit Anmol is a station (or Teshan) that you wouldn’t want to halt or even want to your train to stop at!

In fact, you’d bribe the TT (ticket collector) to zoom past this Teshan!

Do you want to know why? The director of the film, Sukhbir Singh, probably has an answer to this. This brave director managed to pull the train (film) to this Teshan without any railway track (read story)!

From the beginning till the end of the film, which by the way is a long- tiring ride, you keep waiting for the story of the film to be revealed; after all you have paid Rs 250 (excluding popcorn) for the film. The interval in the film raises your hope because you are sure that like other Punjabi films, in Teshan too, the story will be known after the break. Hearts broken here again, there is no sign of any story and the film has ended!

Director Sukhbir and the writer (is there any. And yes there is Prince KJ), in fact the entire team of Teshan should have named the film Desi or maybe I love You Mere Jaan!

Teshan actually launches a new brand of people and they are called the desis.

Without any visible storyline, we figured out from the disjointed and lengthy as hell scenes that Teshan is all about the marriage hulabaloo of a Yanken (slang for modern) and desi guy in the much-expected rural setting. Will someone please remind the filmmakers to stop making look-alike Anrej movie sets, and that too without detailing?

As for the actors of Teshan, starting with Happy Raikoti — Punjabi music industry knows Happy as a fabulous singer, something we agree with our heart. But, the film is all about seeing his acting skills. So, we have just two suggestions for this awesome singer — work on your physique and dialogue-delivery. Happy sounds completely lifeless. Even his comedy dialogues are parched! The same holds true for the lead actress, pretty–faced Diljott. She needs to move over her dead-pan expression and flat dialogue-delivery. And while she is doing this, she needs to fire her hair-stylist and costume designer! In case you are hopeful of seeing romance in this film, forget it all, you’d hear is I love You Meri Jaan!

Yograj Singh, yet again, is playing yet another ‘loud’ character! Prince KJ, Karamjit Anmol and Anita Devgan — what a royal waste of such fine artistes! We request the Punjabi film writers to stop treating them as caricatures.

With some not so hummable songs, with unbearably dragged scenes, with the echo of Desi and Meri Jaan sucking romance out and without a storyline, this Teshan is definitely not worth stopping at!
