Popularly known for her role in the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, actress Doris Roberts passed away at the age of 90 on April 17 in Los Angeles. Roberts played the beloved mother in the show, which ran for nine seasons from 1996 to 2005. She won five Emmy Awards through her career, four of them for that much-loved role as Marie Barone. She's survived by her son, Michael Cannata Jr, from her first marriage.

Her onscreen son on the show, Ray Romano, shared in a statement, “Doris Roberts had energy and spirit that amazed me. She never stopped. Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a green young comic trying to make it as an actor, she did everything with such a grand love for life. I will miss her dearly.” Roberts' career began in 1952 and spanned dozens of films and television shows, including appearances on Remington Steele, Cagney and Lacey and an Emmy-winning guest role on primetime drama St. Elsewhere. — ANI
