Everything she touches turns to gold. The Queen of Pop, Beyonce, has done it yet again with her latest single, 7/11. Originally a part of the reissue of her fifth studio album, Beyonce, 7/11 climbed to the number one spot on Billboard this week, making 7/11 Beyonce’s eight single to rule the top spot. So far, the video – which was shot by Beyonce herself through a static camera - has only won acclaim for its relaxed, laid back vibe. While the song has hip-hop undertones, it has an overall upbeat tempo, with Beyonce being at home with her rap. The single has broken many a conventions with its video, because of its home-video look – with the video opening up to Beyonce dancing in her sweatshirt on the balcony – and inciting extreme reactions from youngsters. Nice moves

“She’s just trying to copy Lady Gaga’s peppiness in her songs now. The lyrics make no sense whatsoever, and this comes as a surprise because Beyonce is very much capable of doing amazing songs like Beautiful Liar and Drunk in Love. Her dance moves in the video are amazing, though!”

Weird feel

“It just looks like some drunken women have made the video. And honestly, the focus of the video is just Beyonce’s derriere, as was the case with Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda Butt. The music I don’t mind, though the lyrics don’t make much sense. But the overall feel of the song is weird.”

Peppy beat
