The last year was a roller coaster ride for actor Nandish Sandhu. The year it is all about doing different things and taking up challenges. From playing a cop and a lawyer to owning a cricket team and then Khatron Ke Khiladi, Nandish has been taking on work that he found different, challenging and also enriching as an actor. He doesn’t consider himself a great dancer so he has picked up Nach Baliye with wife Rashmi Desai this year to be his next challenge.
Have you followed the previous seasons? Who has been your favourite jodi so far?
I have caught glimpses of the past seasons and enjoyed it as a reality show. I have loved all the jodis but the magic that Sachin-Supriya brought on stage in the first season was remarkable. They were older in age than the other couples but yet so hardworking and their chemistry was unbeatable. They really gave the other jodis a tough competition and so no wonder they took the trophy home.
What made you say ‘yes’ to Nach Baliye season 7?
I have never been a great dancer and hence Nach will be my workshop. It’s going to be a training ground for me and I am really looking forward to it.
Was it yours or Rashmi’s idea to give Nach Baliye season 7 a go ahead?
I don’t think it was anyone’s idea — we were approached and hence both of us discussed it.
Who is a better dancer between the two of you?
Rashami is definitely a better dancer but I am hoping to improve and learn a lot on the show so that I can match her.
Soaps/reality shows, you have done equally well in both...what do you enjoy more?
Both have their pros and cons but reality shows definitely gives me an adrenaline rush. Plus, our viewers get to connect with us as individuals we are rather than a character.
What’s going to be your strategy for Nach Baliye season 7?
To work hard and become a better dancer as well as to have fun and win the hearts of audiences and our judges.
What is the dance style you are most comfortable with?
I like Bollywood as we have grown up listening to and dancing on Bollywood songs.
What are the other projects you are working on?
I just did an Arijit Singh music video and completed Khatron ke Khiladi so there’s onl y time for Nach right now.
