It’s been a while, but singer-actor Nishawn Bhullar can’t seem to find a cure for his problem. “I cannot bring myself to give up on anything, be it relations, situations, work, life...whatever. Even when I see things going nowhere, despite the tremendous effort I have to put in to keep myself afloat, I can’t shut my eyes and say enough,” Nishwan shares his ‘medical condition’, as he likes to call it.

With his recent Punjabi song Torh Dinde Han trending on YouTube, and with his talks of giving the song to a leading actor-director of Bollywood, Nishawn is a singer who is ‘still’ seeing the highs and lows in his career, despite being a known name in the music industry.

With one track, he touches heights of success, and then lull seeps in. But the minute, he takes a backseat in your mind, this artiste hits back again.

“I don’t know whether I surprise life, or life surprises me... this is how my life and career have always been, miraculously surprising,” adds Nishawn, who quickly gets down to his latest surprise Torh Dinde Han. The track written by Babu and directed by Arvindr Khaira is currently leading the music charts. Nishawn concocts a new genre for his track, “It is a sad-romantic-peppy-break free kind of a song,” he smiles telling us why this track has struck chords with the youngsters, especially with the girls. “You can say, Torh Dinde Han is a break-up song, or better still, a song that one can sing if you are in a relationship and want a break up. The lyrics are Chal Torh Dinde Han, aidan nit tut tut ke, hun tak gaye han main, hun akk gaye han main. And by the way, I have sung it from the girl’s point of view.”

Nishawn, who played the lead in National Award winning film Nabar, is particular about the lyrics. Surprisingly, he has always gone for songs with sad-romantic lyrics. “Romance means sadness; joy is just a tiny part of this experience. Haven’t you heard love is aag ka dariya and doob ke jaana.”

Currently working with well-known music directors; his only contention, however, is the golden rule ‘out of sight out mind’ that he has to deal with all the time. “For an artiste to exist in this competitive industry, he or she has to be in constant circulation, which is why many of them end up making wrong choices too.” Nishawn agrees that he has made many mistakes himself, “But what to do, I can’t say no to any experience.”
