From being an architect to a professional singer, Indeep Bakshi, the man who made Saturdays more fun with his Saturday Saturday track, says the phenomenal success of the song surprised him out of his wits!
Singh is king
Indeep, who takes immense pride in his roots and culture, says he will soon release his next single Singh Honde Badhshah, Kaur Hondi Queen to pay a rich tribute to his religion. He says his turban is symbolic of his crown, “Some of my previous compositions saw me popping champagnes and dancing with skimpily clad girls. I chose not to wear my turban—my honour, my pride and my crown— during those shoots for the obvious reasons.”
Critics or well-wishers?
All of 25, this young Delhi lad amazes one with his mature observation of taking criticism in his stride. Unlike other celebs, who resent venomous attacks or hate mails, Indeep notes, “People who criticise you are, in fact, your well-wishers. Their comments should be taken seriously because their views are not negative. They offer what I call real feedback.” And he shares that the genuine take of ‘critics’ helped him introspect and improve all the more.
Busting stress
According to the self-confessed Lata Mangeshkar and Atif Aslam fan, musicians today are catering to the audience demand. Ask him if he thinks that somewhere in the process the quality of the current music scenario is getting affected and he shares diplomatically, “With all the technological innovation and dependency on auto-tuning, modern-day singers cannot compete with the flawless crooning of legendary singers like Lata ji. But the youth loves such tracks anyway. Having said that, contemporary ‘singers’ are just producing stress-buster music as per the audiences’ liking.”
Yo Yo-ing around
Brushing aside constant controversies which surround Indian rapper and singer Yo Yo Honey Singh, who recently re-emerged on the music scene, Indeep shares, “I appreciate Yo Yo for all his efforts. It is all thanks to him that we individual artistes are getting our due in the industry today.”
Almost instantly, the rapper-singer adds that his upcoming tracks have no derogatory remarks on women. “None of my upcoming songs demean women or show them in the poor light.”
Six string love
Just like every artiste has a muse for creative inspiration, every singer essentially has an idol. For Bakshi, “Atif Aslam is one of the finest contemporary singers.”
