It is totally possible that eight out of 10 Punjabi singers that you try to reach out to aren’t available to take calls. Well, most of them are travelling around the world on musical tours. And those who are home, in Punjab, are basically taking it easy...just chilling!

Yet another interesting fact that we discovered while going around the Punjabi circle is that many singer-actors are shifting their base, settling down in foreign shores for good. The latest one to have made home saat samundar paar is Roshan Prince; the singer-actor has moved to Winnipeg, Canada, for good. Which singer-actor joins him next, you’ll probably find out soon. Till then, check out what we extracted for you this time

Neeru calling

She has been the reigning queen of Punjabi film industry for a long time; now, Neeru Bajwa dons a new hat — that of a director. The news is that Neeru Bajwa has announced the release date of her directorial debut Sargi. The film releases on February 24, 2017. Neeru launches her sister Rubina Bajwa as the lead actress of Sargi, opposite best friends, singer-actors Jassi Gill and Babbal Rai. Says this duo, “We have pretty interesting roles in this film. It was a pleasure to work with Neeru as a director. We got to see a different side to this brilliant actress.”

Now, it’s Sardar Saab

It seems the sardar fever hasn’t ended. So, here it is; another Punjabi film that uses Sardar in its title and this one’s called Sardar Saab. Directed by popular Punjabi film director Amit Prasher, the film stars Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff in the lead role. Jackie plays a daring, truthful and honest sardar in this film, which is all set for a December 16 release. The poster and the promos are already creating a buzz. One reason for this buzz is that Sardar Saab is presented by popular playback singer and music director Mika.

Sufi note

Popular Punjabi Sufi singer Kanwar Grewal’s latest single Toomba Vajjda has created a buzz in the Punjabi music circle. The track was released internationally a few days back by Kanwar and his team, who are presently on the biggest musical tour in Canada. Produced by Sumeet Singh of Saga Music, the music of the track has been done by Jatinder Shah. Standing by his image of a wanderer, a sufi, Toomba Vajjda is an out-and-out Sufi track. “It’s a mesmerising number,” says the singer.

A big chance

While we’ve admired actress Sargun Mehta in Punjabi films Angrej and Love Punjab, Jimmy Shergill hasn’t been able to weave much magic. The upcoming film Jindua, starring Jimmy Shergill, Sargun Mehta and Neeru Bajwa, however, can prove to be a game-changer for all the three actors. The film has been directed by Navaniat Singh of Mel Karaa De Rabba fame.

To the tee

Look, who did we catch in our circle — actor Harman Virk, who will be seen in the upcoming Punjabi film Lakeeran opposite Yuvika Chaudhary. In case you didn’t know, Harman in an international golf player, ranked top 5 in the under-18 circuit for India. He studied at the Coventry University in UK. Along with Harman, popular singer Gurinder Rai also makes his debut with the film Lakeeran.
