A still from Patiala Peg
Advertisement

Making waves is Diljit Dosanjh’s song Patiala Peg, a song written by Veet Baljit and music by Nick Dhammu. The song offers much-needed relief from the experimental contemporary Punjabi rap songs. While the music of the song sounds pretty much traditional with the beats of dhol and harmonium, it is seasoned with a rather melodious voice of Diljit. Also, the lyrics of the song are clean and bereft of English vocabulary that is fast making its way into Punjabi music. Let’s hear it from Chandigarh folks while they do bangra to the tunes of Patiala Peg.

Lyrical wow

I totally love this song! It’s meaningful and realistic. I mean that’s what Punjabis do, while most of the people take things with a pinch of salt, they just take it down with a Patiala peg that’s followed with a burrahh! The song absolutely captures the spirit of Punjabis. I love the lyrics of the song.

Sing along

It’s a very nice song and the music is great too; it’s different than what we have heard in the past. However, what I really like about the song is Diljit’s voice. His diction in Punjabi is super and the way he sings this song, the feeling especially is brilliant.
