If Punjabi food is your weakness, Amritsar Express at Elante Mall, Chandigarh, has added some more delicacies from the food capital of the region to their kitty. Ambarsari Tadka is the ongoing food festival that’s added on to the authentic menu, which the eatery is doling out. Luchian with chana, Gilla kulcha, Malai kofta and biryanis are part of the new extended menu.

Chaman Lal, head chef at Amritsar Express, who brings with him the experience of working at the famous Kesar Dhaba, is happy cooking his signature dishes.

“Our joint has been a hit here.

And, there are people who want more of Amritsari stuff. So, we have introduced gilla kulcha that comes especially from Amritsar,” says Chaman.

Those who dig into the food vouch for its authencity! While Amritsari fish lives up to its reputation of being kurkuri, Chicken and mutton dishes are good, but it is paneer tikka that is soft and melts in the mouth! Luchian and gilla kulcha do retain their authentic flavour. “But we call it bhigya kulcha,” points out a gentleman from Amritsar. “You will get true flavours here, as we not only we use authentic recipes but also vessels. We cook our daal for at least five hours in a brass vessel.”

If taste is one, it’s the reasonable pricing that wins patrons’ preference over the competitors. You can have a wholesome meal in little over a hundred rupees. “We have three thalis starting at Rs 105 to Rs 185. And, soon we will be starting the vegetarian and non-vegetarian rolls,” offers the joint’s owner Ritesh Puri.
