A host of circumstances put law graduate Bhuvan Azad on the path of acting. Fond of theatre, Bhuvan happened to be one of those who benefited from cinema and telly projects in Punjab. One such audition led this young guy to bag a role in the serial Rab Se Sona Isshq, followed by itsy bitsy roles in some dozen of films and innumerable stints on TV.

Currently, dividing his time between Chandigarh and Mumbai, Bhuvan is upbeat about working with two celebrated directors of Bollywood – Shyam Benegal and Kabir Khan. “I got to work with Kabir Khan in two of his recent films— Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Phantom,” shares Bhuvan who also did a small role in Jang-e-Azadi directed by Shyam Benegal. While in Phantom, he faces Saif Ali Khan on camera as a Pak officer, he shot for Bajrangi Bhaijaan at Wagah with ‘the’ little girl who is said to be focus of the story.

“I have just begun. Even though my roles are small in the films, but to be directed by stalwart directors is a great small step.”

Post his degree in law, Bhuvan headed to Mumbai and got work on small screen but he is still waiting for his big chance. “Look, I have no background in the industry, since I have made it this far, I am hopeful of touching my goal as well.”

Bhuvan has had a stint in Punjabi industry too; he has worked in films like Saada Haq and Yoddha. Even though Bollywood offers far better opportunities than Pollywood, Bhuvan is yet to feel at home in Mumbai. “First, its so huge, second, people call the place professional but I find it rather dry. A true Punjabi at heart, I am used to sociable atmosphere.” On the plus side, he feels that the people of Mumbai are super helpful. “They let you be when you want to, they are neither nosy nor pushy”.

Still waiting for his big ticket to the silver screen, Bhuvan, a fan of Boman Irani, Amrish Puri and Paresh Rawal hopes to work with Priyanka Chopra!
