Campaign to make Hisar free of posters commences
Hisar: A group of local residents under the aegis of non-governmental organisation (NGO) Hamara Pyara Hisar launched a campaign on Sunday to make the town free of posters. Commercial institutes and individuals have defaced the town by pasting posters at most public places including the walls of HUDA Town Park, bus stand, railway station and main markets. The municipal corporation is supposed to take action against these violators for defacement. But it has failed to do so. Though the MC authorities launch occasional drives against illegal hoardings which come up at roundabouts and along the roads, the defacement by way of posters hardly catches the attention of the authorities. Sushil Kharinta, a social activist, said that around 30 members of the Hamara Pyara Hisar group embarked on the drive in the morning and made the Town Park free of posters. Rakesh Agrawal, another social activist, said that they are preparing a list of institutes and individuals who are posting the posters on the walls and would urge the MC authorities to get police cases registered against them under the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1989. The Superintending Engineer of the MC, Ramjilal, too joined the campaign and cleaned the public places with the NGO members.
