Two children drowned in a pond at Bhowapur village in the district on Tuesday.

While taking bath in the rain, Amit (7) and Mayank (6) went towards the village pond. But there were deep pitches in the pond and both the children drowned in the pond. They were taken to the civil hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

According to Rishi Kant, SHO, Rai police station, on the complaint of the family members of victims and other villagers, a case had been registered against the village sarpanch. They alleged that the sarpanch was responsible for digging deep pitches in the pond.
