The district authorities on Monday demolished 56 structures falling in the prohibited area of the Air Force station here.
The drive was initiated on the directions of the High Court which had asked the district authorities to submit the action taken report in this regard.
The demolition drive was carried out by a team led by Vivek Kalia, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Gurugram. Nearly 300 police personnel were also deputed there to maintain law and order.
However, a large number of structures still existed in the prohibited zone. Sources said 25 of the structures were houses, while others were used as commercial or similar purposes.
The residents of the area were informed that they have to vacate the area as construction within 300-metre radius of the Air Force station had been banned by the Defence Ministry, claimed an official.
“We have appealed the people not to purchase land in this area for construction of any type of building,” he added.
