6-yr-old boy dead, 12-yr-old playmate quizzed

A six-year-old boy was reportedly murdered and his mutilated body dumped amid wild growth in the Sikanderpur area on Tuesday night.
The body has been identified as that of a six-year-old boy who had gone missing two days ago when he went out of his house to play.
According to the postmortem report, the victim had received a fatal skull injury and there were signs of his having been hacked with a sharp-edged weapon.
The missing torso raised questions about sexual crime. The missing skin from the boy’s skull hinted at the use of acid on face.
The police were quizzing his 12-year-old playmate, who had been named by the victim’s family and was last seen with the boy.
According to a senior official, the two boys had gone out with another five-year-old to play. While the other two later returned, the six-year-old did not. The 12-year-old had no explanation regarding the victim’s disappearance, said the official.
“He told us that he was loitering with his friend and they reached a park. He said they had fight and he left him alone. He has been switching statements, first talking about a fight and pushing the victim and then not seeing the victim at all. The child is being counselled and we think that he has major leads,” he said.
The ACP, Karan Goel, said, “We are investigating the case and the victim’s playmate is a lead and not an accused. The missing body parts seem to have been eaten by animals frequenting the area. The case will be cracked soon as we have quizzed over 50 persons and got major leads.”
“My wife is a cancer patient and we are struggling to make ends meet. Our son was our only hope and we wanted him to excel in life. I had lunch with him and then took a nap, but when I woke up he was not there. I thought that he had gone out to play, but he did not return till late at night,” said the deceased’s father.
“A local barber told us that he had seen our 12-year-old neighbour taking him towards the jungle. We went there and found the body. Only his legs and skull were lying there. People say he has been killed. If his friend has done it, I just want to know the reason,” said the sobbing father.
