7L pilgrims reach Kapal Mochan mela

Historical Kapal Mochan mela concluded peacefully with about seven lakh pilgrims taking a holy dip in the sarovars here on the occasion of Kartik Purnima to attain moksha after midnight, today.
On this occasion, the traders of Jagadhri town, known as ‘Bartan Nagri’ of India did brisk business as the pilgrims took their home Jagadhri made utensils as a token of good omen.
“This mela is a symbol of unity and integrity of the people of different religion. It is held on the occasion of Kartik Purnima near Bilaspur town of Yamunanagar district every year. Pilgrims from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand come here in the mela,” said Deputy Commissioner Mukul Kumar.
He said that after taking a dip in three holy sarovars- Rin Mochan, Kapal Mochan and Suraj Kund, after midnight today, the pilgrims started to return their homes.
Girish Kumar, Bilaspur SDM-cum-mela administrator said that the mela went off peacefully and about seven lakh pilgrims visited the place this year.
On the occasion of this mela, manufactures, whole-sellers and retailers of utensils did brisk business as after taking a dip in three pious sarovars of the mela the pilgrims on their way back to home from the mela take utensils as a token of good omen.
“When the pilgrims return their homes back from the mela, most of them buy utensils from Jagadhri, known for its brass utensils worldwide, as a token of good omen,” said Ravi Prakash, a retailer of utensils.
Besides coming up a number of shops of retailers of utensils at mela premises, the utensils’ shops were set up on bus stand-Agrasain Chowk road in Jagadhri town also.
The century old utensil industry of Jagadhri is engaged in manufacturing utensils of brass, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and bronze.
