A dream come true for parents

Ritu of Bhadar village of the district has secured 141st position in the UPSC exams. This was her first attempt.
Speaking to The Tribune, Ritu said she had dreamt of becoming an IAS officer in her childhood. She started her preparation in 2016. Her father and mother were sarpanch of their native village in 1992 and 2000, respectively, and for them it’s a dream that has come true.
“My father’s experience helped me in clearing the interview session. He told me about the values and roles of khap panchayats, powers of gram panchayat and administrative workings,” Ritu said.
Ritu is a gold medalist in MSc Mathematics from Kurukshetra University. She studied till Class VIII at government school in her native village and later shifted to Government Girls Senior Secondary School at Model Town in Panipat city.
She completed her graduation and postgraduation from Kurukshetra University.
She said that each parent should provide a better atmosphere and opportunities to their daughters so that they can achieve their goals.
Ritu’s mother Sunita Devi was the first woman sarpanch of the village.
