Sonepat: Bhagat Phool Singh Women University at Khanpur Kalan in the district recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Central Depository Services Limited (CSDL), Delhi, for including the university in the National Academic Depository, an electronic store keeping academic degrees and records digitally safe. Vice Chancellor Sushma Yadav said that all degrees issued by the university would be kept in this depository, which would benefit students and employers. “It will bring transparency and quality, which will make attestation of documents easier,” said the VC. Mukul Misra, deputy manager, CSDL made a presentation of working of the depository.

Gift of good health to the needy

Sonepat: Lions Club Sonepat organised a 90-day free health check-up camp for the needy on its premises from Sunday. Inaugurating the camp, Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain praised the initiative. She remarked that it would inspire other voluntary organisations to come forward for such noble activities. Neelam Seth took charge as club president. A total of 45 saplings were planted.

Jhajjar lad makes it to Asiad

Jhajjar: Naveen Dagar of Chhapaar village in Jhajjar has qualified for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Jakarta by clinching gold medal in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase during the 58th National Inter-State Athletics Championships in Guwahati recently. Dagar broke his own record of 8:42.29 set four years ago by crossing the finishing line in 8:39.42. Residents of Chhapaar village were elated over the achievement.

31 colleges to get smart

Chandigarh: With a view to boosting digital and smart learning in colleges, the Higher Education Department will set up smart classrooms in 31 colleges of excellence. Ten smart class rooms will be set up in each college. The 31 colleges of excellence are Government College, Ambala Cantonment; Government College, Bhiwani; Government College for Women, Bhiwani; Government College, Faridabad; Government College for Women, Faridabad; Government College, Tohana; Dronacharya Government College, Gurugram; Government College for Girls Sector 14, Gurugram; Government College, Sector 9, Gurugram; Government College, Hisar; Government College for Women, Hisar; Government College, Hansi; Government College, Jind; Government College for Women, Jind; Government College, Narwana; Government College, Jhajjar; Government College, Bahadurgarh; Government College, Karnal; Government College for Women, Karnal; Government College, Mahendragarh; Government College for Women, Mahendragarh; Government College, Narnaul; Government College for Women, Narnaul; Government College, Tauru; Government College, Panchkula; Government College for Girls, Panchkula; Government PG College, Kalka; Government College, Kaithal; Pt NRS Government College, Rohtak; Government College for Women, Rohtak; and Government National College, Sirsa.
