Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge Surya Kant inaugurated the additional district court complex here on Tuesday. All the 12 courtrooms have been equipped with modern facilities, including video conferencing. Built at a cost of Rs 17.50 crore, the courtrooms are air-conditioned and various amenities have been provided for the litigants and undertrials.
He said a courtroom had been designed specially to handle cases of child abuse. Privacy and security of the young victims will be ensured there, he added.
The accused held under the POCSO Act would be kept in a special enclosure at the courtroom to avoid direct contact with the victims, he said. Justice Surya Kant said an ultra modern court complex would be built in Gurugram soon at a cost of Rs 200 crore. He also appreciated the governments for providing adequate funds for modernisation. — TNS
