Adi Badri will be developed as tourist spot: Gadkari

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari today said that the Centre would provide assistance to develop Adi Badri as a tourist destination and completion of work related to Sarasvati revival project.
He urged CM Manohar Lal khattar to send proposals for construction of dam and development of tourism circuit in the area to the Centre.
Gadkari was here to inaugurate the five-day International Sarasvati Mahotsav at Adi Badri in Yamunanagar district today. He also flagged off the International Sarasvati Mahotsav Yatra.
Highlighting the historical and religious significance of Adi Badri, the Union Minister said that Rig-Veda was composed on the banks of Sarasvati, which is described in the Vedas.
He said that ISRO and Archeological Department had confirmed water channels of Sarasvati in the area. “It is our duty to inform the new generation about our rich culture, heritage and history,” said Gadkari.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the report on construction of dam on Som river was ready and would be sent to the Centre for approval. The dam would ensure water in Saraswati, he said.
He also announced to build a bridge between Adi Badri Narian temple and Kedarnath temple at Adi Badri to help pilgrims coming there.
He said that government would make adequate arrangements for rehabilitation of the residents of Bheron and Mantra villages located in a radius of 88 acres of proposed dam.
He further said that the government had signed MoU with the ONGC for flow of water through pump sets.
The CM also said that the government would honour the decision of the Supreme Court on release of ‘Padmaavat’ in the state.
Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Dr Rajiv Bindal, RSS pracharak Indresh Kumar and Deputy Chairman of Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board Prashant Bhardwaj also spoke on the occasion.
Haryana Assembly Speaker Kanwar Pal Gurjar, President of the Sarasvati Nadi Shodh Sansthan Darshan Lal Jain and other persons were also present.
