With a view to promote adventure tourism in the state, the Haryana Government has initiated skydiving aero sports at the Bachhod Airstrip, Narnaul.
An official spokesman said Pioneer Flying Academy Private Limited had been authorised by the Civil Aviation Department to conduct skydiving activities at Bachhod aerodrome situated off the Delhi-Jaipur highway about 153 km from Delhi. The Pioneer Flying Academy will offer tandem skydiving and static line jumps using Cessna 172 aircraft.
The spokesman said skydiving was a sport of jumping from an aircraft and performing acrobatic manoeuvres in the air under free fall before landing with the help of a parachute. Tandem skydiving is the easiest and best way for a first-time skydiver to experience free fall, wherein, the skydiver is securely harnessed to the tandem instructor throughout the course of the jump from free fall to parachuting to a safe landing. He said static-line jump was a form of solo skydiving where after two days of training and passing an exam, students could attempt skydiving.
