He said the state government had been working on every aspect of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign.

With continuous support from gram panchayats, various organisations, NGOs and society, the campaign has yielded good results.

Three years ago, there were only 835 girls for every 1,000 boys but now, the number has increased to 930 girls per 1,000 boys. Efforts would be made to take it 950, he added.

The Chief Minister presented a marriage certificate, a cheque for Rs51,000, a gas connection and saplings to every newly wed couple.

On the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, the Chief Minister said the results had established that the elevation of Rahul Gandhi as the Congress president had no impact on the BJP.

The Finance Minister said on completion of 50 years of life, he got the privilege to perform the kanyadan of 53 girls. “When I entered politics, I had resolved to undertake mass marriages of poor girls with my salary. Today, I got this opportunity. As Finance Minister, I had received Rs16.65 lakh as salary which I donated for the mass marriage function,” he added.
