All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) activist Pawan Hooda of Jassia village in the district has been arrested by the CBI in connection with the case of arson and violence at the local residence of Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu during the Jat agitation for grant of reservation in February, 2016.
The matter is being probed by the CBI, which had recently filed a chargesheet regarding the case.
Pawan, a close aide of Jat samiti president Yashpal Malik and general secretary Ashok Balhara, was named as an accused in the case.
Balhara’s name has also been included in the chargesheet filed by the CBI. The other youths accused in the case of arson and violence at Capt Abhimanyu’s house have hailed the inclusion of Balhara’s name in the chargesheet.
A delegation of AIJASS members met the local SP this evening to apprise him of their concerns. A meeting of the samiti has been convened on Wednesday to chalk out the future course of action.
Malik maintained that the state government wanted to incite a Jat stir yet again. He said there was no need to make the arrest at this stage when the CBI had filed the chargesheet.
