In the wake of intelligence inputs that some anti-national elements may try to disturb peace, a red alert has been sounded in the Ambala Cantonment Army area till February 26. Residents have been asked to be cautious and carry their identity cards all the time. Sources said further decision would be taken as per the directions from the higher authorities. Army personnel are keeping a close watch on vehicular movement in the area. The movement of vehicles from other states has been stopped in the Army and Air Force areas.

An Army personnel said: “Following intelligence inputs, we have been asked to remain alert and keep tabs on all activities in the area. Night patrolling has also been intensified. Checking will continue till Monday.”The Cantonment Board, Ambala, has also issued an advisory in this regard. It states,”There are intelligence inputs that certain anti-national elements may try to disturb peace in the station. A red alert has been sounded to avert any untoward situation. The general public and residents are requested to cooperate with security agencies.
