Ambala, May 4
The District Child Welfare Committee has decided to launch an awareness campaign and inspection drive in government and private schools of Ambala to check rise in crime against children.
Speaking to The Tribune, Mohit Aggarwal, member, CWC, said, “The committee conducted inspections last year. It was observed that children were not aware of good and bad touch, child helpline number and sexual abuses. Child helpline numbers were not displayed in majority of the schools, first aid kits were either not available or contained expired medicines and fire extinguishers were nor functional despite guidelines.” It was also found that in some schools the complaint and suggestion boxes were never opened, he said.
The new academic session has started and it has been decided to launch an awareness and inspection drive in the schools this month, he said.
