Another pupil from Kalpana Chawla’s school to go to NASA

KARNAL: Sheetal Chaudhary, a student of Class XI of Tagore Bal Niketan Senior Secondary School, an alumnus of great Indo-American astronaut Kalpana Chawla, has been selected by NASA for a 15-day summer session of the International Summer Space School Foundation at NASA.

Sheetal Chaudhary, a student of Class XI of Tagore Bal Niketan Senior Secondary School, an alumnus of great Indo-American astronaut Kalpana Chawla, has been selected by NASA for a 15-day summer session of the International Summer Space School Foundation at NASA.

Kalpana Chawla started the tradition of sending two students to NASA in 1998 and for the last three years, one student is being sent there through an interview system. Sheetal will leave for NASA on Saturday and will become the 36th student of the school to be going to space centre.

In the honour of the student, a function was organised on Friday in the school, in which chairman of the school management RM Raheja, principal Rajan Lamba and councillor Megha Bhandari were present.

Rajan Lamba said NASA conducted an online interview of the willing candidates and Sheetal Chaudhary was selected.

Sheetal said, “It is a golden chance for me to know about NASA in depth. I thank my teachers and parents for motivating me to do my best.”
