Kurukshetra: During the third inspirational lecture series organised by Kurukshetra University, named as ‘apni baat’, Lt Gen general KJ Singh (retd) said when a soldier guards the nation at the border under adverse circumstances, he is guided by utter devotion to his country. In his interaction with students, the decorated ex-Army officer explained various types of borders, namely, the International Border, Line of Control, Line of Actual Control, Actual Ground Position Line, etc, that India shares with neighbours. He said in case a soldier comes across news that his own countryman are fighting against each other and raising questions on his commitment to the nation, he gets demotivated.
Students exhibit creative skills
Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra University’s Institute of Law organised a three-day fest. On the occasion, 350 students participated in various academic and cultural events, including moot court competition, rangoli and ad-mad shows. Convener Jai Kishan Bhardwaj said this year, a new event of short filmmaking received an overwhelming response from the participants. Vice Chancellor KC Sharma termed the law fest an expression of the Indian cultural ethos.
MoU for skill training
Mahendragarh: The Central University of Haryana has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ghaziabad-based Hitech Enviro Engineers and Consultants Private Limited to ensure skill-based job-oriented special training to its students enrolled in BVoc (Industrial Waste Management) course. “As per the MoU, the company will assist in training, evaluation, internship and opportunity for placements to our students as it has specialisation in the field of water and waste water treatment, environmental health and safety,” said Prof RC Kuhad, Vice Chancellor.
Students awarded degrees
Sonepat: The first convocation and annual prize distribution of Shaheed Dalbir Singh Government College at Kharkhoda was held on the college premises. In all, 91 students were given degrees and other prizes by the chief guest and principal of Government College, Helimandi, Gurugram, Dr Virender Singh as well as by Kharkhoda College Principal, Santosh Dahiya. Dahiya said besides giving a good performance in academics, students of the college had won four gold and three silver medals in the inter-university sports meet.
Local artistes perform at Raahgiri
Kaithal: The district and police administration organised Raahgiri near Suraj Mal stadium. Local artistes and schoolchildren participated in various cultural items in large numbers. Kulwant Singh, Kulbhushan and Vinod Shanker, DSPs, inaugurated the programme. DSP Kulwant Singh said such events help decrease stress levels and increased coordination between public and administration. Purvi Sharma of Luv Dance Academy performed during the event.
Handing out poll message
Kaithal: A mehndi competition on theme “Lok sabha poll a festival of democracy” was organised at Indira Gandhi Mahila Vidyalaya recently. The winners were awarded by Deputy Commissioner, Priyanka Soni. While addressing the students she said each vote was important and women should participate with zeal in voting process and ensure hundred per cent voting to strengthen the democracy. She said pink polling booths would also be set up, where all women polling staff would be deployed. To ensure maximum participation special measures were being taken.
