Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s former driver Khatta Singh on Saturday said he had changed his statement in 2012 in favour of the dera chief following threats to his life and family members at the hands of dera chief’s men.
Khatta Singh during his cross-examination, in connection with the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati, also supported his earlier statements recorded before the magistrate and the CBI in which he had stated that the dera chief had in his presence ordered the killing.
CBI counsel HPS Verma said Khatta Singh’s cross examination by defence counsels would continue on Monday.
Khatta Singh was a CBI witness in the murder cases of Chhatrapati and dera manager Ranjit Singh. He had turned hostile during his testimony in 2012.
