Seema Kashyap was elected chairperson of the Municipal Council here on Tuesday.

Congress-backed Seema Kashyap got 18 votes while BJP-supported Pooja Agarwaal bagged 15 votes. Seema Kashyap was supported by the BJP earlier, but she was won over by the Congress. Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini and Randeep Singh Surjewala also cast their votes. The police had made elaborate security arrangements at the Mini- Secretariat hall where the voting took place. Superintendent of Police Astha Modi personally monitored the situation.
