Rewari, December 8
A girl, who was found dead with four gunshots injuries at Nandrampur Baans village in Dharuhera on Saturday, has been identified, but her name is being withheld as her father suspects she was raped before she was killed.
The 21-year-old victim was a native of Hanumangarh in Rajasthan. She was residing in New Delhi before her death, pursuing a course of beautician.
Sources say the girl was identified from a visiting card recovered from her pocket.
Sources in the police, however, have denied the rape theory, stating that no injury marks other than that of bullets were found on the body.
The post-mortem examination was conducted on Sunday.
Her father, a trader, said: “My daughter had gone for shopping on Friday evening, but did not return till late in the night. We made several phone calls to her, but she did not respond. Later, her mobile phone was switched off. In the wee hours of Saturday, we got a WhatsApp message from her, informing us that she was alone and fine, and there was no need to worry. After a few hours, we received the tragic news of her murder.”
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jamal Mohammad said, “Prima facie, it is a case of murder. There's a remote possibility of rape. The post-mortem report is awaited. The police are on the job. The case will be cracked soon.”
