They took this extreme step after allegedly beaten by a relative of the girl. Both reportedly had an affair, a source in the police said. The girl belongs to upper cast, while the boy was from a backward cast.
The boy was rushed to the Arpana Hospital, where he was declared dead, while the girl is undergoing treatment at the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH) and her condition is said to be critical.
Dharambir Badoli, investigating officer, said that the deceased has been identified as Vikram Singh (16) of Gharaunda. “We have registered a case under Section 306 of the IPC,” he added.
Nathu Ram, father of the deceased, alleged that a relative of the girl attacked on his son and the girl at a ‘kanwar camp’ in Gharaunda yesterday late evening. After this incident, both went to railway station and consumed some poisonous substance. Later, Vikram informed his mother about it over phone, he said.
