Couple consumes poison, boy dies in Panipat

Panipat, July 18

A 20-year-old boy and a 19-year-old girl attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at a rented accommodation of the boy at Ramani Chowk here. The boy died.

The deceased has been identified as Davinder of Uttar Pradesh. He was working in a factory here.

The incident came to light on Friday night when Davinder’s roommate Ravinder came home and knocked at the door. When no one opened the door, he and neighbours broke it and found the couple lying unconscious.

They were taken to hospital, where Davinder was declared brought dead. “The girl, Sarita, was referred to the PGIMS, Rohtak. She is not in a condition to record her statement,” said Gauri Dutt, in-charge, police post, Quila.

The police said the possibility of a love affair could not be ruled out.
