Kaithal, earlier known as Kapisthal, is considered the centre of the holy land of Kurukshetra, as it is situated within the radius of 48 km and many religious places, which find mention in old history books, are situated in the town and its surrounding areas.

These facts came up during a ‘Vichar Goshthi’ held at RKSD College in memory of late Dr Damodar Vashisth, founder of Kaithal History Compilation Society and a renowned educationist here.

Dr Shreyansh Diwedi, VC, Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University, Mundri (Kaithal), was the chief guest and Advocate Saket Mangal, president, college governing body, presided over. Damodar Vashisth’s sons Harish Vashisth, senior journalist, and Chander Shekhar Vashisth, ADJ; were special guests. Prof BB Bhardwaj explained the history of Kapisthal of vedic times to modern Kaithal. Dr Kamlesh Sharma, president History society, also spoke and Dr Chaturbhuj Bansal narrated history through poetry. A book ‘Kapisthal’ written by Prof BB Bhardwaj was released on the occasion.
