The Indian Defence University, which is being set up at Binola and Bilaspur, is located 11 km from the headquarters of National Security Guard on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.

The university will propagate higher education in national security studies, defence management and defence technology and promote policy oriented research on all aspects relating to national security, both internal and external.

The piece of land in question was overlapping with the NHAI, with dual ownership of the Defence Ministry and the NHAI. The Indian Defence University proposed construction of a bus bay along NH-8 for decongestion of heavy traffic on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.

The land has been acquired by the NHAI for construction of the proposed bus bay which is aimed to improve connectivity to Gurugram and Delhi. The stretch is always clogged. The highway connects eight states.

With fast-paced urbanisation and expansion of population in Gurugram and other southern districts of Rewari and Mahendragarh, vehicles to and from other states passing via Delhi has increased road density on this stretch of the highway.
