The Department of School Education has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Elementary Education Officers (DEEOs) to upload the entire information about students’ enrollment on the MIS portal up to the first week of December.
Sources say the deadline has been given to initiate the exercise of rationalisation of posts as many teachers are, at present, posted at such stations where they either have no workload or less workload than the prescribed norms. At the same time, there are many schools where teachers are not available.
They say improper placement of teachers is not only blunting teaching skills but also preparing the ground for poor results. Thus rationalisation has become necessary for the deployment of teachers as per the workload calculated on the basis of subject-wise enrolment of students, the sources add.
“As the students’ strength for the 2018-19 session is not clear at this stage, a reasonable and workable presumption has been made that subject-wise distribution of students will by and large remain the same next year too. Hence, information regarding the students’ strength as on September 30 this year is required for the rationalisation of posts,” states a communiqué sent to the DEOs and the DEEOs from the office of Director, Secondary Education, recently.
The communiqué further reads, “All heads of schools are duty bound to upload class and subject wise complete information of students on the MIS portal up to the deadline. Those failing to adhere to the directions will be liable to face disciplinary action”.
