Dyal Singh College holds seminar on forensic science

The Zoology and Forensic Science Department of Dyal Singh College organised a national seminar on recent advancements in forensic science yesterday. It was a UGC sponsored programme, in which experts highlighted the importance of forensic science.
Dr RK Sharma, dean colleges, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, who was the chief guest, narrated the history of forensic science and highlighted the developments and the possibilities of forensic science in times to come. Motivating the students and researchers, he said there were great possibilities of career in forensic science.
Dr JR Gaur, retired director, state forensic science lab, Himachal Pradesh, in his key-note address said the area of forensic science was very vast and it was a sum total of various subjects of science. He pointed out that with the help of forensic science such instruments can be invented which can bring down the crime rate.
Officiating Principal Dr Chander Kanta welcomed all the guests and participants and gave a short introduction of the theme. As many as 78 research papers and 60 poster presentations were given.
Dr Ikramul Haque in his valedictory address highlighted the importance of forensic science. Meanwhile, in research category, Vikas Bhargav, Ritu Devi and Dr Suryakant Mishra, in review category, Shivani Sehgal, Dr Suman and Dr Ikramul Haque were declared winners while in oral presentation, Pramod Singh was adjudged the best presenter.
