Farmers of Rukhi village, led by representatives of different kisan organisations, on Tuesday staged a protest outside the SDM’s office at Gohana.
They were protesting against the alleged indifferent attitude of the administration, the Railways and the government towards the death of farmer Jai Pal in a water filled railway underpass near the village on December 7
They handed over memorandums to SDM, Gohana, Ashish Vasisht to be forwarded to the Chief Minister, the Chairman of the Railways and of the Human Rights Commission seeking immediate financial and other assistance for the bereaved family.
Jai Pal is survived by two children. His wife had died a few years ago. The protesters demanded that water be drained from the underpass and a permanent solution should be worked out to address the problem.
They alleged that neither any administrative not any government or railway official had visited the bereaved family so far.
