Fatehabad’s Russian ‘bahu’ is Mrs India finalist

Chandigarh: Elena Tuteja will represent Haryana at Mrs India Earth 2017, which will be held in Delhi from October 4 to 6. It will be organised by Ritika Vinay and Vinay Yadawa, national pageant directors. Elena was selected as a finalist along with 47 contestants. She has undergone training in The Tiara Pageant Training Studio, Pune, where she won many titles and was among the top five finalists. Russian by birth, she got married to Dr Manu Tuteja, a radiologist in Fatehabad, and has been living in Haryana for 10 years. She holds diploma certificates in dancing, handicrafts and child psychology. Speaking to The Tribune, Elena said, “It's not easy to live in a different country. I faced many problems. But luckily, I've a very supportive family.”  Elena started her carrier as a model and actress. She now wants to encourage married women by participating in the event. "It's a great platform that gives married women a great opportunity to achieve their goals,” added Elena.

Honing classroom management skills

Yamunanagar: A two-day capacity building programme on classroom management organised by the CBSE at St. Lawrence International School, Jagadhri, concluded on Saturday. As many as 56 teachers from 18 CBSE schools of Yamunanagar, Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Panipat districts participated in it. Rajni Sehgal, chairperson of the school, said the CBSE had appointed renowned principals Aruna Bhardwaj and Neha Bhardwaj as resource persons for the programme.  She said teachers ought to regularly attend these kinds of quality improvement programmes to enhance their potential. Aruna Bhardwaj said classroom management was key to students’ development and everything rotates around it. Meanwhile, management students of Thapar University, Swaranjli, explained various models of classroom layout and got a questionnaire filled. MK Sehgal, chairman of Sidhivinayak Group of Educational Institutions, also joined the programme.

Ladwa MLA sings a different tune

Kurukshetra: he first-time BJP legislator from Ladwa, Pawan Kumar Saini, was seen in a different colour on Sunday. In an apparent show of strength, Saini organised two political functions, which were chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He touched Khattar’s feet at least thrice in full public view. He was perhaps trying to appease the CM ahead of assessment of BJP legislators. Earlier this year, he had tried to rebel against Khattar. Saini, a staunch RSS activist, was among more than a dozen BJP MLAs who had reportedly lodged a complaint with the party high command about being ignored in the Khattar government. Having no political background, the qualified BAMS, who was a manager at Gita Niketan, a residential school in Kurukshetra, was fielded by the BJP from Ladwa.

10-bed cancer ward for Sonepat hospital

Sonepat: The government has approved setting up of a 10-bed ward for cancer patients in the Civil Hospital in Sonepat. Dr JS Punia, Civil Surgeon, Sonepat, says Dr Om Prakash, cancer specialist, has been appointed and the remaining staff will be recruited by the first week of November.   In order to provide medical care to people in rural areas, OPD facilities will be available at community health centres in the district and patients testing positive for cancer will be referred to the Civil Hospital. So far, cancer patients are being referred to the PGIMS, Rohtak.

Hisar woman wins Mrs India Well Spoken title

Hisar: Malavika Kohli (44), a resident of Sector 14 in Hisar, has won the title of Mrs India Well Spoken in the Mrs India Galaxy pageant held in Delhi recently. Malavika, a homemaker and wife of tennis player and coach Yogesh Kohli, was one of the finalists in the event organised by Vibrant Concepts from September 16 to 20. A jubilant Malavika said the event helped the Indian married women to reinvent their potential and give exposure and opportunities to homemakers. The pageant is meant for married Indian women and NRIs.
