Congress leader and former Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Vinod Bhayana, who was among five MLAs, who faced allegation of corruption after a CD surfaced during the Congress regime, joined the BJP in the presence of state party chief Subhash Barala in Hansi on Friday. Later, Bhayana attended a rally of CM Manohar Lal Khattar in Hisar.

Barala, while inducting him into the party, said Bhayana had a clean political career and the allegations against him were baseless. The state BJP chief said Bhayana was influenced with the policies and performance of the BJP government in Haryana.

Bhayana said he had lost faith in the Congress which had no programme to offer to the people. He said he would serve the BJP as a worker and had put forth no conditions for joining the party.

Bhayana has got elected on the Haryana Janhit Congress ticket in 2009, but later joined the Congress to extend support to then CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda. He contested from Hansi as a Congress nominee in 2014 but suffered defeat at the hands of Kuldeep Bishnoi’s wife Renuka.

Sources said Bhayana took the decision after he analysed that he would not be able to get ticket from his home constituency Hansi, represented by Renuka in the Assembly.
