Four majestic gates adorn Karnal

To beautify the entrance to the city, the Municipal Corporation is constructing four welcome gates. One of the gates is nearing completion, while the construction of two other gates is running speedily. The foundation work of the fourth one is in progress.
Shrimad Bhagwada Gita gate is being constructed at the Baldi bypass at a cost of Rs90 lakh. It is near completion. The gate will be inaugurated in the first week of November.
Deen Dyal Upadhyaya gate is being construction at Devi Lal Chowk for Rs75 lakh. It is expected to be completed in a couple of months.
At Deen Bandhu Chottu Ram Chowk, known as Namestay Chowk, a welcome gate dedicated to Raja Karan is being constructed at a cost of Rs75 lakh. The authorities claim it will be completed in two months.
The fourth gate is being constructed on the Karnal-Indri road and it will be dedicated to Atam Manohar Jai Muni. About Rs60 lakh will be incurred on this gate. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had laid the foundation stone of the gate last month. It is expected to be completed in six months.
Nishant Kumar Yadav, MC Commissioner, said: “The entrance of any city gives an impression of its development. The MC has named the gates after a discussion with all sections of society. The gates are being illuminated so that these attract the people at night.”
