Chandigarh, May 27
Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today administered the oath of office to Surender Singh Gahlawat, former Deputy Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Madhuban, as Member, Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was also present on this occasion.
Gahlawat, who was born on November 23, 1960, has played an important role in the implementation of social welfare schemes such as old age pension, rehabilitation of specially-abled and orphanage at Madhuban and Rai from 1989 to 2004.
Gahlawat, who holds MA, M.Phil (Psychology) degrees from Panjab University, Chandigarh, served as Rehabilitation Officer, District Rehabilitation Centre, Bhiwani, from 1989 to 1997.
Others present on this occasion included Chief Secretary DS Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary (Excise and Taxation) Sanjeev Kaushal, Convener of Haryana Swarna Jayanti Celebrations Committee Rajeev Sharma and other senior officers of the state government and family members of the newly-appointed member. — TNS
