Rohtak, May 5
The police investigation into the PMT paper leak indicates a well-entrenched network of the accused arrested yesterday, with the local police today claiming that the four-member gang was also involved in leaking State Bank of India recruitment and AIIMS post-graduate tests in 2012. It is not known if the two tests were cancelled.
Director General of Police Shrikant Jadhav today said since the answer key of the MBBS written test conducted on May 3 had been leaked, the CBSE should cancel the exam. The CBSE, sources said, had asked for a report from the police. The Board had yesterday expressed ignorance about the paper leak and said the test was conducted smoothly.
Rohtak Superintendent of Police Shashank Anand today said a Special Investigation Tean (SIT) under DSP Amit Bhatia would investigate the case. The SIT has already contacted the Delhi Police authorities for more information. Police teams have also been dispatched to trace and arrest the key accused, Roop Singh Dangi of Madina village in Rohtak. DSP Amit Bhatia said one of the accused, Ravi, who is a student of MBBS course at the local PGIMS, was also found involved in at least two other cases of alleged leakage of entrance exams.
"He has been chargesheeted in the SBI recruitment and post-graduate entrance exams of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and was currently on bail in both cases," said Bhatia.
The local police had yesterday recovered mobile chips, micro earphones, blue tooth devices and digital watches from the accused. The accused planned to smuggle these devices in the examination centre by stitching them with the undergarments of the candidates who had allegedly agreed to pay Rs 15 to 20 lakh for the 'deal.' Nine PMT candidates are believed to have struck the deal.
The accused, including dental surgeons Dr Bhupender of Gudhan village and Dr Sanjeet of Rohtak, MBBS student at Rohtak PGIMS Ravi of Nimka village near Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Rajesh of Gaddi Kheri village in Rohtak district, have been remanded in police custody for four days.
