Gang of thieves busted in Kaithal

KAITHAL , JUNE 19

The district police has arrested five members of a gang of thieves and snatchers . The gangsters had stolen at least two motor cycles and about Rs 2 lakh in cash and other articles at pistol-point or by throwing chilly powder into the eyes of their victims.

The kingpin of the gang who worked at a wholesale dealer’s shop used to pass on information about the description and vehicle numbers to other gang members who then targeted their victims. The accused were produced in a court here today which sent them in police custody for five days .

Sumer Partap Singh, SP, said this gang had committed five robberies and snatchings in the recent past

The police was hopeful of solving several cases of snatching and robbery after interrogation of the accused, the SP added.
