Congress MLA from Rai Jai Tirath Dahiya yesterday alleged that the state government was giving a false assurance to people on removing the toll barrier near Bhigan village on the National Highway-1.

The MLA claimed that the district-level committee formed to take up the demand for the removal of the barrier with the Central government was yet to meet Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. He added that the construction of permanent structures at the toll barrier belie Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Sonepat MP Ramesh Kaushik’s claims that the toll barrier would be removed.

Residents are opposing the toll barrier ever since it became functional on September 21. The MP had claimed to have raised the demand to shut the barrier with the Union Minister, following which it was announced that the toll barrier would be removed within 15 days.
