Govt to set up art & culture univ: Minister

Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said the state government would set up an art and culture university (kala evam sanskriti university) after Pt Lakhmi Chand, a renowned poet of Haryana.

At the concluding day function of the youth festival— Ratnawali at Kurukshetra University, he said the proposed institute would promote folk tradition of the state and honour promising artistes.

Sharma said since the contribution of legendary Pt Lakhmi Chand had been forgotten, the present state government had decided to establish a university after his name, which would remind the future generation of his contribution to society, he said.

On the occasion, the minister said the BJP government fulfilled it election promise to hold campus elections.
