Group D exam: Organisations give food, shelter to candidates

Many social organisations provided free food to hundreds of candidates who came here to appear in the Group D examination of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission on Saturday and Sunday. Some organisations also arranged night stay for the candidates.

Members of the Flying Club of Rahgiri provided tea to candidates who reached here early in the morning. Besides, members of the NIF provided blankets to the candidates who reached here in the night, while members of the Sardar Bhagat Singh Brigade arranged food for them.

Sulekh Kadyan, a member of the Arya Samaj Mandir, said scores of candidates reached the temple for night stay. Besides, members of the Gatka team of the Sikh Youths’ Federation gave tea and ‘pakoras’ to the candidates near the Government Sanskriti Model School.

Members of the Arya Samaj, Arya Yuva Samaj and Rashtriya Arya Nirmatri Sabha led by Om Prakash Dawar made arrangements for food and stay of the candidates.

Nearly 55,000 candidates appeared in the examination in Panipat. Nearly 27,000 appeared on Saturday, while 28166 appeared on Sunday at 72 centres established in various schools.

The district administration arranged 40 extra buses for the candidates, while the Railway authorities provided two special trains on the request of Deputy Commissioner Sumedha Kataria for two days.


Two nabbed for impersonation

Panipat: The police on Saturday arrested a youth on the charge of impersonating in the Group-D examination at Tau Devi Lal College in Samalkha. The accused was identified as Kuldeep of Nauganava village in Jhajjar district. A case was registered. Later, the police arrested his friend whom he was impersonating. He was identified as Ravi Kumar of Khachrauli village in Jhajjar district. Both were on Sunday produced in court, which sent them in judicial custody, said Inspector Gurwinder Singh.
